Some Friday Savoir Faire!

Wouldn’t it be nice to be strolling down the Via Condotti in Rome this weekend?

Home of some of Rome’s most fashionable boutiques and restaurants, back in the 60’s it was THE place where the wandering jet-set went to be seen. And boy did they do it with Savoir Faire!

Ursula Andress

Audrey Hepburn

Bardot and Gunther Sachs

Ava Gardner

Peter Sellers and Britt Ekland

Paul and Talitha Getty

Tony Curtis

So one and all have a very savoir faire weekend and channel some of your inner jet-set!

  6. Do you know that at one time we had a bit of this jet set flavour in Toronto? In the 1970s, there was a chic and expensive shop called "Via Condotti" in Yorkville, next to where Vidal Sassoon is now. They carried the best Italian makes like Gucci and Ferragamo.

It was so expensive, especially for the time when most of us shopped at Eaton's or Simpson's. But it did capture a bit of that spirit, and at a time when Toronto was quiet and conservative, it was rather fun. A bit of that 1970s European flavour lives on in the charming Coffee Mill Restaurant in Yorkville.

  10. Oh, Via Condotti... my favorite street in the whole, wide world. There is still an air of glamour to it, particularly on Saturdays and Sundays, when the chic Romans still dress up and parade down the block in their finest...
