Ok, Savoir Faires, I admit it! I am on a bit of a Casati Binge at the moment!
Marchesa Luisa Casati will always be a constant source of inspiration, long after her death in the late 1950’s. Always ready to shock and surprise her public, she had an unusual menagerie of animals ranging from snakes, monkeys and birds surrounding her. These added to her exoticism.
Among this menagerie were two cheetahs. She became famous for her evening strolls around Venice, naked beneath her furs whilst parading these cheetahs on diamond-studded leashes. An unusual sight in Venice at the time, one that was devised to shock the residents and haute monde of Venice.
An unusual pet, no? Well obviously the Marchesa did not think so and neither do the women below!
And yourselves? What would you like as pet full of savoir faire?
I don't know what to say. A woman with a cheetah would attract me, but the cheetah itself would frighten me, I guess. So a difficult decision :-)
ReplyDeleteBut glamour? No doubt. Like everything in Savoir Faire, never failing to its readers.
I love leopards, I would to have a lion or leopard pet but it will be expensive to pay his food ... haha great post.

Luisa Casati, she was so unique. She's very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteJosephine Baker is great. It's a really nice selection of photos.
I admire her bravery... to be who she was - it's not so easy :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha I know! But don't think that I copied you, it's a casuality, word!
ReplyDeleteI love these shots and as a fan of big cats I would say a lion would be my Savoir Faire animal of choice. The shot with the panther is amazing.

really extraordinary, esp the third image. But I'm happy with a dog. My Benoit the Brittany was the chicest hunting dog you could imagine--such an air of superiority and taste.
ReplyDeleteI believe Salvador Dali was another celebrity who went about town with a cheetah. But I'd be a little nervous if I were at the next dining table.
ReplyDeleteHow glamorous. Now you've got me wanting a pet cheetah!
ReplyDeleteThat is just plain sexy! I think I need a cheetah!!!
ReplyDeleteI will stick to my dog.. Haha that thing would probably eat me half way through the walk.. That is pretty awesome and insane to have though.. Lets go buy one David!
ReplyDeletePeace! ~Angel
INCREDIBLE images !
ReplyDeleteI thought Cheetahs never prosper.
ReplyDelete:)
Beautiful animals. We stick to hamsters here. They are a courageous lot. Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeletei so wish i was woman enbough to cope with a cheetah! i find even my border collie is hard work.
ReplyDeletebut i would love a macaw. not in cage, but one that came to visit like a magpie after a bit of mince : )
I would get a dragon to fly me everywhere ;)
ReplyDeleteGASP! That third image down! I saw that a few years ago framed in one of my favorite little boutiques, it was a lot of money so I passed (regretfully!) I went home and tried to google the image, to no avail....only to have it show up here! TOO MUCH!xxx
ReplyDeleteMr. Bon Vivant with Savoir Faire... here just to tell you that I'm ready to fight you back for RPatz any time you want! Haha... (or we could share.... haha you decide)Another brilliant post! You know these are the kind of ladies that I admire? Love them! And regarding the pet? Well a white lion with blue eyes or... a cute cute boyfriend 10 years younger than me... hahaha :P Have a great weekend! XoXo
ReplyDeleteI would have a leopard or a jaguar, purely because they are such seductive looking animals and would make me feel exotic and mysterious been able to walk around with them.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog! I really enjoyed this post.

I do think I myself would have a cheetah! Many thanks all the insights into what pets you would have!
ReplyDeleteThe marchesa shocked at the time and would probably have the same effect now too if she walked around naked under a fur with a cheetah at her side. I would probably go around with an elephant you know bigger effect :)
